18-01-2021: HEINEKEN ROEIVIERKAMP 2021 CANCELLED

Dear competitors,

With a heavy heart we have had to make the decision to cancel the Heineken Roeivierkamp 2021. The primary reason for this cancelation is that because of the extended lockdown in the Netherlands we cannot obtain a permit for organising the regatta in time, even if government measures would allow a regatta in march.

Next year, during the 50th anniversary of regatta, we expect to be able to organise a spectacular 49th Heineken Roeivierkamp. We hope to see you all there!

Until then, we wish all of you good health in these difficult times.

The Heineken Roeivierkamp committee.

08-01-2021: Update internationals

Dear competitors,

Due to the current measures taken by the Dutch government against the spread of the coronavirus, we still face a high degree of uncertainty regarding whether the Heineken Roeivierkamp can take place in march this year. However, given the current situation we do know that if we are able to organise a regatta, it will be at a much smaller capacity. Therefore, sadly we have had to make the decision that in the case that a regatta can be organised this year, the Heineken Roeivierkamp will not be accepting international entries in 2021

In order to organise a regatta, we need to be able to ensure the safety of our participants and comply with governmental measures at all areas of the regatta. This drastically reduces the maximum number of crews the regatta can accommodate.  Furthermore, the Dutch government, as well as many others, currently strongly discourage international travelling. Due to the high degree of uncertainty about the possibility of safely and responsibly traveling to Amsterdam in march, and the dependance on each countries specific travelling measures at that time, we cannot offer international crews any guarantees on the possibility of participation up to the very last moment. Given the reduced capacity, and in order to avoid irresponsible international travel, we have chosen to only accept entries from Dutch crews.

The organizing committee wishes all international participants a happy and healthy 2021, and hopes wholeheartedly to be able to welcome you all again next year.

10-11-2020: Page for updates about COVID-19

Dear competitors,

the 49th edition of the Heineken Roeivierkamp is scheduled to take place on the 13th and 14th of march, 2021. After the last-minute cancellation of last year’s event due to the coronavirus, the organizing committee hopes to be able to welcome you all again on the river Amstel. However, whether this will be possible, and in which form the race can be organized, will be dependent on the developments regarding the coronavirus in the coming months. Currently, the organizing committee is working on several scenarios for the 2021 regatta, in which it also considers organizing the regatta in a reduced form. For this, we are in close contact with all relevant authorities and parties. Starting this month, we will post a monthly update on the race on our website and all social media channels to inform you about the current situation and the decisions we have made regarding the continuation of the race. We are aiming to be able to provide more clarity about the several scenarios, and the dates around which we expect we will make certain decisions. Last year the registration deadline for international competitors was in november. Due to the high degree of uncertainty about the possibility of safely and responsibly traveling to Amsterdam coming march, and the uncertainty about the form the race will take place in, we have decided to delay the registrations of international crews. We hope to be able to provide you with more information about the possibility of registration for international crews in december. We understand that this may be inconvenient for some of our international competitors, however we hope you’ll understand that the current situation simply does not allow us to make decisions so far ahead. We hope to be able to see you all on the Amstel next march!
